Our premier course not only arms students with strategies to combat stress but also deepens their appreciation for the intricate ties between physical, mental, and social health. Empower them to address real-world community health challenges, collaborate on impactful solutions, and proudly showcase their finding to other Youth, which will create “Health Ambassadors” to spread the wealth of knowledge.

Learning Objectives

In this engaging and influential program, youth will:

  • Research various aspects of health and wellness and explore what it means to them.
  • Set and achieve goals related to their own health and the health of their communities.
  • Learn about the obesity epidemic and its structural causes, and explore personal choices that can help avoid it.
  • Conduct research about nutrition and exercise discovering resources available in their neighborhood.
  • Explore mental health, mental illness and the stigma around it. Research mental health issues in their community.
  • Explore the benefits and drawbacks of social media, learn how teens use it, and how it affects mental health.
  • Take online learning modules aligned with National Health Education standards.
  • Create a project that addresses a problem related to physical, mental, or social health in their community.
  • Create a video presenting the problem and their solution to it.
  • Present their projects/videos at the Youth Health Ambassadors’ Forum, which will include a panel of experts and the public.

Processes & Activities

  • Conducting surveys, focus groups, and interviews about different issues related to health & wellness.
  • Developing PowerPoint presentations.
  • Create a project that addresses a problem related to physical, mental, or social health in their community.
  • Creating a public service announcement about their topic.
  • Create a video presenting the problem and their solution to it.
  • Present their projects/videos at the Youth Health Ambassadors’ Forum, which will include a panel of experts and the public.

All our project based learning curricula contain a career pathway component, which helps youth explore career options in various industries.

Software Skills

Youth will learn to use Canva which is a free-to-use online graphic design tool used to create social media posts, presentations, posters, videos, logos and more.

Youth will learn to use Prezi, a web-based tool for creating presentations which uses different media types to help make whatever is being shown as engaging as possible.

Youth will learn to use Microsoft PowerPoint, a program that empowers you to create clean slideshow presentations and intricate pitch decks.

Youth will learn to create and edit videos using tools like Windows Movie Maker, adding music and record presentations and PSA as a group or as an individual.
